Germany has a rich but distant history of mission leadership over the centuries, from the work of various Catholic orders to the impact of Luther’s reformation. Unfortunately, in the last 100 years, Christianity has lost much of its credibility due to a watered-down Gospel, the impact of two world wars, and pervasive humanistic thinking. To many, the Church is an irrelevant, cultural artifact of the past.
In Germany today:
Ethne Berlin is focused on seeing Disciple Making Movements in Berlin. Berlin provides a complicated, rich context for ministry. The political climate towards the ever increasing refugee population is constantly changing. Their team goal is to see Disciple Making Movements in all of the over 180 people groups who call this city home
The Harter family moved to Kandern, Germany in 2013. They work to reach the unreached through supporting the development of new and creative forms of church for a large segment of society that may never step foot in a traditional church.
Germany is also in the midst of a great need from the influx of refugees entering the country. The numbers continue to grow and the Harters are finding more and more ways to get involved, through things like collection of clothing for those in need locally, participating with a bicycle repair ministry, and leading an effort to supply Christmas gifts to all the children in our local refugee centers. They see God's hand at work in all this as he brings people to their back yard. The Harters’ role in all of these settings is to come alongside Christian leaders and local believers in order to encourage, support, and mentor them to fulfill their calling within their ministry. They value working in partnership with the people in their community rather than just being outsiders. In addition, the Harters lead short-term mission teams throughout Europe in order to serve local ministries and give others a new perspective on God’s kingdom.
Novo is a band of creative missionaries sent to multiply movements of the gospel and mobilize the church for mission around the world.
